About the Campaign

Quality child care is the foundation of success for our children, and for the state of New Jersey. It allows parents to work and go to school while providing children with a safe, nurturing and enriching learning environment that prepares them for the future.

Led by Advocates for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ), New Jersey Association for the Education of Young Children (NJAEYC) and the Turrell Fund, Reimagine Child Care will bring together communities, policymakers, business leaders and caregivers to reimagine what child care could look like in New Jersey.

We envision a future where every family has access to affordable, quality care, and where providers have the training and resources they need to provide it. Polling shows that 90 percent of New Jersey residents agree that affordable infant and toddler child care is important for families. The question now is how we will rise to the challenge of providing the quality of care that all children need.

Why are we launching this now? Because there is no better time. In the midst of a global pandemic, our need for accessible high-quality child care for all infants and toddlers is greater than ever. While child care advocates have been raising concerns for some time, COVID-19 has forced us all to look at the existing cracks in our fragile child care system. It has revealed that child care centers and professionals have been struggling to make ends meet for years, and it shows just how vital quality child care is for the health of our economy. We can never go back to a “normal” where so many are so vulnerable.

We must take these lessons and reimagine a New Jersey where all infants and toddlers have an opportunity for success, and where New Jersey thrives as a result. We must reimagine child care.
